In March 2026, back-to-back, historic Kona low storms battered the Hawaiian Islands, unleashing the worst flooding the state has seen in over two decades.
On Oahu's North Shore, tight-knit communities like Waialua and Haleiwa were buried under red volcanic mud, with over 5,500 residents forced to evacuate raging waters.
On Maui, the still-recovering community of Lahaina faced terrifying runoff as floodwaters rushed down the fire-scarred mountains. Homes have been swept off foundations, farms destroyed, and families upended.
